I am finding it very difficult to see through the fog of accounting smoke for this project.
On Wikipedia I see the cost for the London Array phase one as 2.2 billion Euros.
In another place the transfer cost for the actual array itself is, and I quote here from page 4 of OFGEM’s report:
Transfer value for London Array
In accordance with regulation 4(2)(b) of the Tender Regulations the assessed costs of the London Array transmission assets is:
£461,618,457.
The final transfer value as determined by the Authority under regulation 4(6) of the Tender Regulations, reflecting the adjustment to the assessed costs for capital allowances is:
£458,904,457
I am looking into how a wind farm that takes free energy from the wind can be more expensive to build and operate than a fossil fueled plant, or a nuclear plant.
This issue will feature in my book: E – Is For Energy.
